Safe Computing Practices To Avoid Registry Errors

Register CleanerRegistry problems are a huge issue for many pc owners. Luckily there are many things that you can do yourself to prevent these problems from happening. Some of them are common sense, and some of them are not so common sense. Regardless they will help safeguard your machine in the long run.

The first step in avoiding registry problems is to ensure the safe operation of your computer. This usually means plugging it into a surge protector to protect against power surges. Power surges can not only damage your machines hardware but the software as well. Remember your operating system is only a bunch of 1,s and 0's at its core.

This data is stored on a magnetic disk, and any power surge can damage, corrupt, or destroy sections of that disk. Modern surge protectors also allow you to plug your internet connection into them. This allows you to protect your internet line from power surges as well. Once you've gotten your power protection taken care of you have to move on to more immediate threats.

These threats often come from your own email inbox and can cause severe registry problems. The main threat from email is the dreaded spam mail, this mass sent mail often contains viruses or spyware. Not to mention identity theft attempts both obvious, and not so obvious. The not so obvious ones are the ones you have to be on the lookout for.

These often masquerade as legitimate program saying you have a virus infection and you need to go here and download this to clean your machine. Nine times out of ten this is a trick, and you just let a boat load of malicious software into your system. Once this type of software is inside your system it often goes straight for your systems registry. Once there it then finds the entries for whatever protections software you might have, and disables it.

Although this is technically a virus attack it falls into the category of registry problems because of how it interacts with your system. You can download spyware and malware protection programs that make passive preventative changes to your registry in the event something does make it into your system. This locks several of the values in your system and does not allow a virus to have the ease of access it would normally have. The next problem you have to worry about is actual physical blows to your system.

As previously stated your operating system is installed to a hard disk. This magnetic disk can cause registry problems and other issues if damaged, but it can also cause problems if it's knocked around. The disk system is similar to the old record players that your parents or grandparents had. Blows to the unit can move the needle, and that results in scratches to the record.

For computers though this type of blow results in reading and writing errors. If the reader is bumped or moved out of position the data it was trying to read may become damaged or corrupted. If it was writing data then anything it was writing will be lost. Please remember to take care of your pc, and never open or install anything fishy.
